Our
Story

The Creator Incubator (TCI) is a lively creative hub housing 38 resident artists, designers, makers and thinkers, from emerging to those of national reputation, and was founded in 2017 by artist and Director Braddon Snape.

TCI is a proud leader in the Newcastle and Hunter Arts community, aiming to foster growth, development, and promotion of not only the artists under its roof but also aims to contribute to the promotion of the wider region’s artists to help build a sustainable cultural landscape. TCI is also honoured to support worthwhile community initiatives such as the mental health support organisation Arts in Recovery (AIR) who run a monthly program engaging people with a lived experience of mental health.

TCI also offers two professional quality exhibition spaces:
The Little Space is an intimately proportioned contemporary gallery space utilised to showcase the work of TCI resident artists and available to emerging and established artists to hire for exhibitions. The gallery hire model is similar to an ARI (artist run initiative) model, however artists are provided with design, promotion and exhibition installation/curation support.

The Big Space is a large, natural light filled space with high (4.3m) walls and a huge accessible roller door available to hire for exhibitions and temporary hire for classes, workshops, projects and events.

Come by to visit and experience a phenomenal creative destination - a leader within the local hunter arts community, supporting artists’ professional development and livelihood.
Observe the artists' studios, visit The Gallery spaces, talk with the artists, and immerse yourself within the marvellously multifarious arts destination that is TCI.

You too can support the local arts community by attending arts events, exhibitions and especially by buying work directly from the artists, and by always including the arts in the conversation.
