Ronan Pirozzi
Ronan Pirozzi (b. 2001, Newcastle / Australia) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Awabakal Country Newcastle, NSW. Working predominantly in abstraction, Pirozzi constructs large scale oil paintings and sculptures out of metallic surfaces and found objects.
Pirozzi transforms experiences of personal trauma into an enigmatic and poetic visual language that explores scarification as a physical representation of identity. Using personal trauma as an entry point to investigate material phenomenon such as decay and trauma.
Drawing from post-industrial landscapes, Pirozzi’s work engages with textures of ruin and transformation. Here, these environments serve as both visual and symbolic references. Spaces of transition that speak to unresolved narratives and environmental entanglement. Pirozzi treats the material of the work as a conduit to communicate how narratives travel through us, and in turn shape our surroundings. His process is personal, introspective and physical, constructing a unique dialogue between ephemerality and material potential, reality and illusion. revealing intimate moments of vulnerability that explore a shared human experience.
