Paper Chained International (PCI) is an annual exhibition showcasing the artistic creations of incarcerated people. First displayed in Sydney in 2024, then Brisbane in 2025, PCI is an evolving show featuring over 150 artworks from over 40 prisons in 12 different countries, including every state and territory of Australia.

Artworks include embroidery work from women incarcerated in Mexico, paintings on recycled kitchen lino from Western Australia (as prisoners have limited access to canvases), woodwork from Bolivia, Japan and New Zealand, handicrafts and paintings from the Philippines, sculptures welded out of recycled metal in Alice Springs, and the remains of home-made Dungeons of Dragons terrain props confiscated and destroyed by guards at Cessnock Correctional Centre.

We at The Creator Incubator acknowledge that we are meeting and working on the traditional country of the Awabakal and Worimi peoples. We recognise and respect their cultural heritage, beliefs, and continuing relationship with the land, and that they are the proud survivors of more than two hundred years of dispossession - land never ceded.
