A symphony of expression compels both artists as they interpret the narrative and the application of patterns and mark-making.

Randa Magdi and Lisa Ellen Hughes are LGBTQIA+ artists who explore the eclectic collaboration of portraits, landscapes, and abstracts. In their joint exhibition, Bittersweet Symphony, they communicate unique, vibrant styles and vitality of expression of the landscape, the vibrancy of the human condition in the essence of portraits imagined and in situ. Our lives reflect the notion of a Bittersweet Symphony in success, happiness, failure, and being in the moment and reflecting that memory as a documentation of our emotions.

The exhibition Bittersweet Symphony captures the artists’ imagination and the essence of the human condition, sexuality, demeanour, spirit, and day-to-day life. A symphony of expression compels both artists as they interpret the narrative and the application of patterns and mark-making. Their work enhances the inspiration of the creative process in the Anthropocene, incorporating the busyness in the environment and applying paint onto the canvas. Both artists experience difficulties and challenges with related health issues and create art as a therapy to express themselves. Randa and Lisa continue to collaborate artistically, exploring their complementary styles of perfection and imperfection with different art mediums.
