113 Women Artists

Aligning with the 2024 IWD theme - Count Her In. COUNTERACTIONS features 113 women artists, symbolising the years of International Women’s Day.

“Counteractions” celebrates femme artists from the Hunter Valley, Lake Macquarie, and Newcastle, aligning with 2024’s IWD theme - Count Her In. Invest in Women. Accelerate Progress. Featuring 113 women artists, symbolising the years of International Women’s Day.

Invited artists cover a breadth of talent, including established artists such as Virginia Cuppaidge, Helen Dunkerley, Jane Lander, Lezlie Tilley, Rachel Milne, Jen Denzin, Ahn Wells, and Vera Zulumovski, along with mid-career and emerging artists.

This exhibition will complement our resident emerging artist Evie Core, who will be holding her first solo show in the Little Space Gallery. Evie was the 2023 recipient of the HIC Services Artist in Residence Award (HIC_ARA), and her show is the culmination of years of work gelled into her 12-month residency with us.

To support the exhibition, we are holding a panel discussion "Count Her Actions" on International Women's Day. This event aims to enhance the two exhibitions and will be facilitated by Rosemarie Milson, Founder/Director of the Newcastle Writers Festival. The panel includes Lottie Consalvo (Artist), Melissa Histon (CEO of Got Your Back Sista), Miriam Kelly (Curator -Newcastle Art Gallery), and Lisa McGuigan (Wine Maker & CEO Lisa McGuigan Wines). The panel discussion is a ticketed event and includes a complimentary glass of bubbles with every ticket.

You can purchase tickets by visiting our 'events' page or by clicking here.

We at The Creator Incubator acknowledge that we are meeting and working on the traditional country of the Awabakal and Worimi peoples. We recognise and respect their cultural heritage, beliefs, and continuing relationship with the land, and that they are the proud survivors of more than two hundred years of dispossession - land never ceded.
